The Power of Myth: Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers

Another video featuring another one of my faves:

The Power of Myth is a book and six-part television documentary originally broadcast on PBS in 1988 as Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth. The documentary comprises six one-hour conversations between mythologist Joseph Campbell (1904–1987) and journalist Bill Moyers.

i love the masks in space intro sequence. so awesome.

Marina Warner: Fairytales and the Arabian Nights

I like to think I read a lot... but mostly I just listen. With a tiny person around, and paintings to get made, I try to feed my mind with as much audio content as possible. My writer friends cringe when I confess things like this. I know.

A dear friend of mine, Elissa Swanger, introduced me to the work of the great Marina Warner while I was telling her about my interest in the the female version of the Hero's Journey. I've been obsessed with this brilliant, beautiful, british mythographer ever since and have listened to everything I can find.

I just purchased her latest book, Stranger Magic, and have read almost 8 whole pages in the last week! If only there were an audible version...

Should you be hungry for some erudition on story-telling:

Two of my favorite interviews with Marina Warner are with Eleanor Wachtel on Writers and Company from CBC books. They can be found here and here.

A link to Marina Warner's site with a complete catalogue of the writers works, and her audio presence, can be found here.

and here's a shot of her writing room i found on love this.
