literature

hitting the stands this week...

I'm super excited to be part of two publications this month:

Hedonist Magazine is a gorgeous new periodical coming out of London. You can find it online or at the following locations:

Tate Modern Bankside, London SE1 9TG, United Kingdom

Wardour News Wardour News Shop, 118-120 Wardour St., Soho, London

And, my work will also be sitting alongside several great writers in issue 7.2 of NANO Fiction.  You can purchase or subscribe here.

Please take a look, and if you feel so inclined, purchase a copy or two. These brilliant creatives always need our support.

Marina Warner: Fairytales and the Arabian Nights

I like to think I read a lot... but mostly I just listen. With a tiny person around, and paintings to get made, I try to feed my mind with as much audio content as possible. My writer friends cringe when I confess things like this. I know.

A dear friend of mine, Elissa Swanger, introduced me to the work of the great Marina Warner while I was telling her about my interest in the the female version of the Hero's Journey. I've been obsessed with this brilliant, beautiful, british mythographer ever since and have listened to everything I can find.

I just purchased her latest book, Stranger Magic, and have read almost 8 whole pages in the last week! If only there were an audible version...

Should you be hungry for some erudition on story-telling:

Two of my favorite interviews with Marina Warner are with Eleanor Wachtel on Writers and Company from CBC books. They can be found here and here.

A link to Marina Warner's site with a complete catalogue of the writers works, and her audio presence, can be found here.

and here's a shot of her writing room i found on thegaurdian.com... love this.
